About me

Hi, I’m Jacqueline – but most people call me Jacqui

I am a silversmith and jewelry designer, and the person behind Lofoten Jewelry.

In an old barn in Laupstad, surrounded by mountains and fjords, I have my own little workshop and gallery. Here, I design and craft my jewelry by hand, inspired by nature and life in Northern Norway.

From nurse to silversmith

For many years, I worked as a specialist nurse, including in anesthesia, intensive care, and emergency medicine.

But alongside my job in the healthcare sector, I also had another interest that gradually began to occupy more and more of my life—making jewelry.

It started as a creative hobby, but eventually developed into something much more. Over the years, I attended courses, learned new techniques, further developed my skills, and spent countless hours experimenting with silver, forms, and various materials.

I discovered how much I enjoyed the combination of creativity, hands-on work, and creating something with my own two hands.

After many years balancing both nursing and jewelry work, I finally decided to pursue the craft as a profession.

It wasn't a new interest I had suddenly acquired, but something I had built up and developed over a long period.

Today, Lofoten Jewelry is my workplace and my own little business.

My craft and my inspiration

The nature in Lofoten is a great source of inspiration for my work.

I find ideas in the tracks in the sand, the structures of shells, the mountain formations, and the shifting light over the sea.

I work primarily with silver and glass enamel, combining traditional crafting techniques with my own ideas and expressions.

Much of what I create begins with curiosity. I enjoy testing techniques, exploring materials, and seeing how small details from nature can turn into jewelry.

Each piece of jewelry is handcrafted by me, and slight variations in shape and surface are a natural part of the work.

Jewelry that gets its own story

To me, a piece of jewelry is more than just something we adorn ourselves with.

It can be a memory from a trip, a gift from someone we love, or simply something we find beautiful.

I draw inspiration from my own world, but it is you who decides what the jewelry should mean to you.

I make the jewelry. You give it your own story.

If you want to read more about my thoughts on jewelry, memories, and the people who wear them, you can find the story in Jacqui’s Journal.

Welcome to my workshop

Today, I run Lofoten Jewelry from my own workshop and gallery in Laupstad.

This is where the work happens, from idea and design to the finished piece. I also welcome visitors who wish to see the jewelry and the place where it is made.

At the same time, my jewelry finds its way to customers both in Norway and other parts of the world.

I still find that quite special—that a piece of jewelry made in an old barn in Lofoten can find a new home and a story all its own somewhere else in the world.

Stop by if you’re in the area!
