Summer Moments from the Old Barn

08/10/2025

High season - which mostly means: door open, fire lit, and lots of lovely people stopping by.
Summer in the Old Barn was, as always, busy, full of life and over far too quickly.

Between visitors, small repairs and new pieces of jewelry, there was thankfully still a bit of time to enjoy what I love most about life up here: the light, the sea, and the mountains.

One of my favourite summer moments was a boat trip to the Trollfjord, this time in a small boat from home, through our Austnesfjord, which I had only ever seen from land before.
I've been there many times with the big ships, but gliding quietly between the steep mountains in a small boat, that was simply magical. And best of all: no seasickness this time.

I also joined the lovely Foldvik Market, three days filled with life, music and inspiring people. These markets always remind me how many creative souls live here in the North – and how lucky I am to be part of it.

And of course, there was time to pick cloudberries, because without them, it just wouldn't be summer!
In between: birthday cake (I share my day with Queen Sonja, always a little bit of royal joy ), many warm conversations in the workshop  and that quiet happiness when people say:
"I've been here before and just had to come back."

All in all, not a spectacular summer but a real one, just the way I like it.
With silver dust, sunshine on my face, and the feeling of being exactly where I belong.
